Definitions
These definitions are provided by our friends at Wikipedia. The terms are not mutually exclusive. For example a figure can be both a miniature and a model.
Action figure: A children’s toy in the form of a posable plastic figurine of a character, often from a movie, video game, or television program, with moving parts and often capable of some form of spring-loaded movement. Usually purchased on a card with the figure under a hard plastic shell (bubble).
Bust: A bust is a sculptured, painted, drawn, or engraved representation of the upper part of the human figure, usually depicting a person’s chest, shoulders, and head, normally supported by a stand.
Diorama: is a scenic representation in which sculpted figures and lifelike details are displayed.
Figure: a model of a bodily form (especially of a person)
Figurine: a small carved or molded figure; a statuette
Maquette: French word for “MOCK-UP” or “model.” Sculpting term for a basic sculpted model used to determine the final pose and detailing for a master sculpture. Maquettes are also used in the conceptual design stage of movie preproduction.
Miniature: A small scale art work or reproduction.
Model: representation of something (sometimes on a smaller scale)
Statue: A three-dimensional work of art, usually of a person or animal, usually created by sculpting, carving, molding, or casting. Often referred to life-sized figures, this is no longer the case.
